ABOUT DEIDRE INTERIORS
Deidre Remtema
INTERIOR DESIGNER, CEO
With a father who worked in the textile industry and a choreographer mother who designed and made her own fashions, Deidre came by her creativity (not to mention her love for textiles) honestly. She earned a degree in interior design from Kendall College of Art & Design and started her own firm in 2009, shortly after she and her husband, Jeff, had their second son.
In addition to her creative, highly textural aesthetic, Deidre is known for her ability to perfectly tailor her designs to her clients and how they live. She begins each project by digging into their life experiences, looking for design inspiration and informing her design decisions with the choreography of how the clients move around their home throughout the day.
By vetting each and every furniture vendor, contractor, and craftsman she works with, Deidre ensures the quality of her clients’ projects, and that all the “moving parts” of the design process are on time and reliable.
Deidre loves nothing more than finding time to “geek out” with books on any subject from history to art and design to fashion and travel.
In 2018 Deidre followed her heart and started the nonprofit Room to Renew in order to renovate a space in the home of a caregiver, providing a place of rest and rejuvenation. Deidre has served on the board of Artists Creating Together and volunteered for the Van Andel Institute JBoard Ambassadors. Professionally, Deidre has passed the National Certification for Interior Design Qualification and is a member of the American Society of Interior Designers.
Jeff Remtema
ARCHITECT
Jeff (Deidre’s husband) came on board full-time with Deidre Interiors in 2018. With a degree in architecture from the Southern California Institute of Architecture and an MBA from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business, plus a two-year stint studying architecture in Switzerland, Jeff takes an open-minded, globally-informed approach to designing homes.
Having family in the construction industry, Jeff grew up on job sites. He brings a unique “boots on the ground” understanding of how homes are built to Deidre Interiors clients, creating ideas that don’t just look great on paper – they actually work.
Like Deidre, Jeff is passionate about employing “found” objects from clients’ personal inventories and ideas stemming from their own life experiences in their designs. By conferring together about a project right from the start, Jeff and Deidre are able to provide their clients with seamless, efficient processes and creative, cohesive results.
While Jeff has officially won awards for his talents in architecture, he unofficially wins with Deidre as “Best Dad and Husband” for things like snowboarding and waterskiing with their boys and traveling around the country and the globe with her to handpick antiques, art, and other special treasures that add a unique, timeless layer to their clients’ homes.
Jeff is a licensed architect and a LEED Accredited Professional.
Jamie Blackmar
INTERIOR DESIGNER
Highly organized and detail-oriented, Jamie is a wiz at helping manage multiple projects at once. Clients love her warm, happy personality as she goes out of her way to connect and give them a fun experience that’s tailored just for them.
Behind the scenes, Jamie is heavily involved in creating project visuals such as CAD and other construction drawings, design presentations, and mood boards, as well as capturing design documentation and product information for the spec binders we leave with our clients at the close of their projects. Her creative talents are put to particularly good use at our project installs.
Jamie graduated from Deidre’s alma mater, Kendall College of Art & Design, with a BFA in Interior Design.
PJ Jennings
PURCHASING
With degrees in both interior design and fashion merchandising, as well as a minor in business, PJ handles all things related to procurement, such as order placement and tracking, liaising with vendors, and managing client and vendor accounting.
Before joining Deidre Interiors, PJ spent nearly two decades working with respected design and furnishings industry brands like Marshall Fields Design Studio and Thomasville Furniture.
PJ plays a vital role in delivering timely communications to all of Deidre Interiors’ clients, responding promptly to emails and calls, as well as proactively compiling and sending regular weekly and monthly project status updates
Colleen Vredeveld
INVENTORY AND FINANCE
Colleen brings with her over twenty-five years of experience in business, management, and accounting. A self-proclaimed Yoda of spreadsheets, she loves drilling down on details to make sure Deidre Interiors internal and external systems are running smoothly.

Whether Colleen is maintaining records for all products and inventory, sending proposals, or reviewing projections her joy-filled spirit resonates with everyone she meets.
In her free time, you can find Colleen embracing the outdoors cycling, golfing, hiking, kayaking, skiing, and even some rustic, camping. Her best life is spent living with her superman husband, two ridiculous kids, one lovely grandchild, amazing family, and super great friends

Lizzy hangs out with us at the studio and is one of the many ways we put smiles on our clients’ faces. She’s a love and her positive attitude reminds us all to live in – and enjoy – the moment!
