Project Description

Reeds Hallow

When this couple approached me about designing the great room, basement entertaining area and office in their Cascade home, design-wise there was very little they agreed on. Rooms had been left empty or underused and very busy schedules made it hard to make the design of their home a priority.

But, once we dove into the design process and started digging deeper I was able to help them discover what they loved about each others style, even though they were so different. In the end each person decided to take the lead in different areas of the house, supporting the other person’s choices and having fun with it!

With lots of daylight and beautiful views to the woods, we chose a neutral color palette with splashes of the homeowners favorite color, purple! Large great rooms can accommodate several seating areas and make entertaining fun. The white sofa, a special request, is covered in stain resistant fabric so these wine and dog lovers need not worry!

“We hired Deidre after seeing her impressive design work at a colleague’s home. Throughout our design process, we learned a lot about our personal likes and dislikes regarding how we wanted to live and enjoy our home. We value not only her work but her honest opinions. It is truly amazing how Deidre has pulled everything together to make our home so enjoyable!”

Beauty and function must go hand in hand when designing a home office. Plenty of storage and built in cabinets to hide the printer and charging stations help the room feel collected and calm. Hand picked cabinet hardware and a sputnik light fixture hint at the love of science and travel for this client.

In the basement entertaining space we agreed on a custom bar top table to seat four, with a cherry top and industrial pipe legs. This client loves to entertain and the table has become a hub for family and friends!
