I absolutely love decking the halls and this year was especially fun! With our newly painted house and expanded front porch I felt inspired to bring in fresh decor ideas.
We always do two trees inside, one in the front den and the other in our family room. This year I noticed the tree decorations were lacking color so I brought in a lot of red to spice things up. I don’t have much red around the house so having it at Christmas feels really festive and special. The den tree only has light on it because we read the Christmas story and add special ornaments throughout the season.
For years the kids had stockings but Jeff and I did not, this year I wanted a stocking for each of us. Instead of getting all new matching stockings I added these black, red and snow flake stockings to mix it up and add color! I love love love using fresh garland throughout the house and wrapping it down our entry stairwell smells amazing!
Another new decor idea I played with this year was wrapping our entry chandelier with garland and hanging ornaments from it. Wow this makes me so happy!! It’s the little things. Bram was a big help on this project, my little peanut has an eye for beauty.
Double wreathes on the front door plus a small tree under the mail box were also new this year. I think next year we will be adding even more wreathes around the outside of the house, I don’t think there can be too many!
Jeff hung the garland and lights outside and it looks great from the road. I love how imperfect the fresh garland is, a little wonky and uneven feels better than perfect.
Everything about Christmas is filled with emotion, the entire spectrum. Creative energy just seems like one way to celebrate, so find your JOY where ever you can.
