Modern Paint Techniques and Bram's Bedroom Progress
I love using paint in unexpected ways. Adding color with paint is easy because it’s a fairly low commitment and the results are instant! Color blocking walls with a paint line that is carried through the trim and doors is a great modern twist on the accent wall and I LOVE the effect! This image from Elle Decor is a beautiful example!
This summer we are redecorating both of our boys rooms to fit THEIR personalities. They haven’t had much design input until now, simply because it hasn’t been a big deal to them. But now both boys are of the age where they have definite opinions on style and it is SO MUCH FUN! Showering my kids with attention this way is a joy. I decided to use this paint technique in Bram’s room and I am really happy with how it turned out.

Both boys needed a complete redo, top to bottom. Here is Bram organizing his “new” antique dresser, he was so excited it came with a key! You can see a glimpse of the color blocking in this photo.
Purple is his favorite color so we used this color block technique on the top 1/3 of the room including the ceiling. I love the modern feel with our historic trim!
Window treatments, bedding, more art and a desk area are still in the works but at least he is moved back into the room and sleeping in there. Bram is hands down the most organized in our family and is taking great pride in his new space, this makes me so happy!
I am excited to get these boys set up before school starts. Next week Marek’s custom bed arrives and we start putting together his room, I can’t wait!
XO,
LOVE the color block!
Thank you Sarah!!!
You have a gift for creating spaces that reflect the personalities of those who live in them. And I bet they loved participating in the design process. Lucky kids!!
Thanks Mary, it’s a joy!!
