Creating a Pet Friendly Home
It’s been almost a year since we brought home our Lizzy, and we are head over HEALS in love with her!! This is mostly a shameless post with pictures of our cute fur baby, and few pet friendly home tips mixed in for good measure! (Lizzy one year ago with my shoe)
Create a pet friendly entry…
Build into your mud room storage for towels, a leash, doggie bags, treats and food. Everything should have it’s place and feel easy to grab!
Lizzy loves the mud!
Use pet friendly fabrics…
Fabrics have come a long way in the last several years! There is no need to worry about staining if you like to cuddle with your pets on the sofa like we do! Two great options are Crypton and Sunbrella branded fabrics, I have no qualms using them where pets are part of the family!
Consider matching your pets fur to the decor…
Choose flooring and fabrics that are similar to your animals fur color. We have a charcoal gray sofa in our TV Den where we love to snuggle with Lizzy and it really shows every bit of hair! A great dust buster comes in handy to take care of it… Our tan sea grass rugs magically don’t collect hair! Funny how that happens! (don’t mind our messy kitchen table, REAL LIFE)
I recently spoke with Shelley Irwin on her WGVU Morning Show about Creating a Pet Friendly Home. She has dogs of her own so it was fun to share and laugh about our experiences! For more tips check out our talk on my Deidre Interiors Facebook Live post HERE.
Do you have some great design tips for pet lovers? Please share, love you guys!
